The Area

Our camp is located Knox, Maine.  Ten miles to the east is Belfast, a small dynamic city in the heart of the mid-coast, and our home and the home of our restaurant, bakery, and market, Chase’s Daily.  Here is a short film about our enterprises http://www.meetyourfarmer.org/chase-farm/  Belfast has a lot to offer for a small, not-too-touristy, place–restaurants, markets, nice shops, galleries, an active harbor, and most services.  There is a bookstore we like quite a lot in nearby Searsport, Left Bank Books, and Camden is but twenty miles south of Belfast which has pleased legions of tourists over the years.  Acadia National Park is within striking distance for a good day-trip.  There are many hikes close by and swimming spots aplenty.  We are about an eight hour drive from New York City and a bit less than five from Boston.  Portland is less than two hours and Bangor is less than one–both have well-served airports and rental car agencies.

Maine is a lovely spot to be most seasons of the year.  Well known as a summer destination but perhaps even more lovely in the fall.  Winter can be particularly restful and startlingly beautiful up on Frye Mountain.  Spring can only really be loved by the locals–mudseason!–but is thankfully short-lived.

As we live and work in the area we can happily help you with your vacation plans and provide ideas for excursions to enrich your time staying on Frye Mountain.
